WebJan 5, 2010 · 7 Posts. Discussion Starter · #1 · Jan 4, 2010. Help... my 70 hp johnson outboard starts every time but immediately dies within 2 seconds. It can do this all day long. You prime it, raise the throttle assist, choke it, crank it, it fires up instantly, then immediately and mysteriously dies. Good fresh gas and the carbs recently cleaned.
